I just watched the first three episodes of the new released series "The Power" on Prime.
What a time to be alive!
The show features mainly teenage girls with misdirected anger and fear (like they do) accidentally killing people, sometimes bringing down entire passenger planes because of a new "evolution" in their bodies making them electrical fire starters.
Ironically, the "bad guys" in the show started isolating the girls with the power, to prevent themselves from hurting themselves or others. One school put the special girls in the gym, six feet apart, behind plexiglass barriers with rubber gloves on. I’m scratching my head here. It looks so familiar. Where have I seen this before?
Photo courtesy of the “good guys” a couple years ago doing this for far more legitimate reasons, the flu I think, if we can keep our stories straight. Photo credit and story here.
The audience so far is lead to sympathize with teenage girls as victims, mostly of men. So far, most of the men are pretty horrible unless they are men of color. Even white little girls on the way to the food bank in a broken down, piece of shit minivan have gotten it wrong, because of their own ignorant mistakes, leading to the unnecessary persecution of a teen girl of color by yet another ignorant white man. Shocking, I know.
My favorite character so far is the white mother, feminist and politician who covers her mouth when learning of this "evolution" in teen girls and says, "We did this to them?" She's poised to apologize for her part as a radical feminist in allowing girls to be so objectified by men to have to evolve into murderers, I mean, ur, victims of their own bodies. Same difference. But the apology, white women always ready with that apology.
Weird how it lines up so perfectly in timing with a particular current event this week with a pretty similar public outcry.
Collective consciousness... That must explain it.
I strongly recommend watching it as a comedy or a parody about the radical left. It's pretty enjoyable that way: the hypocrisy and the nonsense of it all.
