“The eggs have gone up in price. This is the clearest sign of the four horsemen of apocalypse from Revelations, demonstrating that the return of Christ and the end of the world is nigh.”
“And behold there stood a 4th horsemen who had the head of a chicken, and that chicken was barren.” ~Revelations chapter 2 verse “kiss your ass goodbye”
I know, it sounds ridiculous when I put it that way, but this is what I hear everytime I turn on the internet these days. What’s worse is that I catch myself sort of buying into it.
Things keep getting worse. Have you not noticed?
But, I must remind you, things keep getting better, too.
Remember when we thought lockdowns would last forever? “This is the new normal imposed upon us,” we said. “We’ll never have toilet paper again,” we said. “Bare faces and smiles will never be seen again,” we said. “Gas prices are just going to go up from here until we stop using gas altogether,” we said. “Bare shelves in stores are a sign of what is coming. It’s only getting worse from here,” we said. “They will force everyone who wants to hold any job to take the jab,” we said.
But gas prices have come down. Masks in many places are gone. Toilet paper was always available for delivery. People in NYC got their jobs back plus backpay. Many people have woken up to where following the leader will get them which ultimately makes things better.
Sure, there was a long period of impact from all the reckless Covid policies. But, it’s 2023, and things aren’t nearly as bad today as I would have predicted a couple years ago. A lot of little things went up in price or were in short supply for a time, but then gradually, shelves were full again and prices have leveled back out.
Do you see what I am saying?
Now, I am certain that during these times of hardship, someone is getting rich and fat off our suffering. Of that, I have no doubt. Some people always thrive in times of economic hardship, and still, not all of them are greedy or relish in our suffering. Some just thrive in hard times. But, that doesn’t mean the end is nigh for humanity, nor should you add your collaboration to a collective consciousness belief in doom. That’s a plan for our own demise.
I would note that some of the people who are thriving presently were doom minded. They moved off grid. They bought their own chickens, and they grow loofah to cover toilet paper shortages. So, some of their suffering is less while others claw and gnash their teeth. But that doesn’t make the “doom mind” the right mind. Doom mindset isn’t required to believe in empowerment through self-sufficiency. Also, I might remind you that even those who are more self-sufficient don’t truly want full-blown economic collapse, even if they get to be right in their predictions and prophecies. A completely exhausted supply chain will ultimately hurt them in ways I’m sure they can foretell. But the mindset of doom is a very dangerous thing to tinker with as a society. There is a well researched power behind a collective consciousness. A domino effect occurs when society starts believing the sky is falling. I remember a children’s tale about this very thing.
You and I don’t have to participate in it. We can acknowledge the bounty of acorns falling to the ground, even if they first hit us on the head. We can see that enough fruit, vegetables and edible flora fall to the ground and rot each day to feed all the hungry on the planet. We live in excess supply. We just need to know where those resources are and how to use them.
Nevertheless, what can we learn from our “doomer” friends even if we recognize their mindset is garbage? How can we become more resilient even in apartments or suburbs with small or zero garden spaces per say? I know there are lots of people with answers to these questions. I used to chase them down myself. But the important thing isn’t to give you ten ideas to get you back to living more sustainably in upcoming times of hardship or sporadic hardships as would currently be the case. The thing I discovered was that whatever I thought I might start doing to become more resilient right where I was, just happened to be the right thing for me to do. The most important thing was for me to listen to that information, look into it and start taking action on it.
I remember starting a garden while another girlfriend started a worm farm. I got chickens and another friend got outdoors more with her family building strength and inner peace.
Only you know what you are being called to do.
So, what’s it going to be? And when will you start?
Write your start date down, come up with an action plan and stick to it! And be really careful not to fall into the trap of doing so before the doomsday clock hits zero. See if you can do amazing, resilient things for your benefit just because it helps you evolve as a person, and as you evolve, so does humanity as a whole.
Let’s shift our focus a little here toward the uprising of the empowered humanity and away from the downfall of modern civilization. Notice how each of those feel and tell me in the comments, which one for you feels more worthwhile. Because here’s the thing: racing to get stuff done toward the end of everything doesn’t seem like a good action plan. I mean, if it’s really all going to end, go get drunk, eat all the carbs you want and have a ball… if that’s all there is.
If you truly want to empower your life, you have to shift away from seeing eggs go up a couple dollars and thinking there was a passage in Revelations that fit this exact scenario. As much as some people appreciate Revelations, you can’t harvest enough vegetables to feed you in the afterlife, nor will the faithful require them.
So share in the comments how you might be helping empower human evolution through empowering yourself starting soon and when. I love to see the accountability as well as the creativity in ideas! Bonus points given for your plan of action steps.
The doomers have been on-and-off vocal as long as I remember. I've learned to become as self-sufficient as possible without panicking about readiness or time frames. A nurse once asked me what I was doing for Y2K. My response was the same then as it is now: I'm not a prophet or psychic. I am though, a practical and energetic man with an abundance of knowledge and resources.
Right now, I recently bought 4 acres in Lake in the Ozarks and plan on building an energy efficient tiny home. Site planning starts in April, and building commences early May.
