People throw the term “progressive” around to describe people who are playing into an agenda that is counter to any progress made for the entirety of human civilization: freedom, equality, self ownership. I would more aptly describe them as degenerates. They tend to lend themselves to every form of social depravity and claim that by making such depraved behavior and agitated mental states out as “honorable” or “noble” somehow they have made some sort of progress on behalf of human evolution. Its’s not new. It’s regressive is what it is. It was documented throughout the Bible as the low points in human history. Most cultures start sacrificing each other as a part of their self destruction. Maybe we are coming to our end.
People seem willing now. They want to try communism again. This time they really hope to make it stick. The only way to get there and stay there is through totalitarian control. The last few attempts, they got one country on board here or there, but not having it everywhere really set them back. It’s pretty hard to sell someone on slavery or the notion that everyone is public property with free people being successful on another island not too far away.
Any real progress as I see it comes from sovereignty. To that end, I pulled more weeds today. It’s not the most enjoyable work. There is time alone with my thoughts to sort things out. My whole body is sore. That’s exercise. I got sunshine on my skin which improves my immune system.
The garden itself revealed several of my radishes had gone to seed, so I am excited to get the hulls off and replant. There’s plenty of time and perfect weather for growing more radishes and radish greens in the end of Summer and early Autumn.
But something I hadn’t expected was a single beet growing where I do not recall planting it. I suspect my other beets may have gone to seed and birds carried one over to this spot. Or maybe, I just forgot.
Last, more of the field is clear, and I got a peek at something I am really excited to share that is growing in the rows I am clearing tomorrow! You’ll have to read the next entry to find out what it is.
I did find a patch of purslane growing to the far right of the above picture. I have put purslane in salads. It has a light lemony flavor. I have sautéed it with ginger, garlic and chicken. I have also added it to spaghetti as it has a noodle-like consistency although I would still add some other noodles to my spaghetti.
Well, that was a lot of progress for today. How might you be more truly progressive?
