Honoring Natural Law With Marinda Bowen
When I first moved to Utah Feb 2017, I joined a few FB homeschool groups. That’s how I recommend all homeschool moms start out in a new location or just in their budding homeschool journey.
In spring of 2017, I showed up, heart in hand late at night to a coffee shop in the village of Sugarhouse in Salt Lake City for my very first, homeschool mom’s night out. I knew no one. I was nervous about whether these homeschool moms would accept me or see me as a non Mormon interloper.
The result was that I met some amazing women, some anti-government, some anti-establishment and all ex-Mormon badasses. One of which, I was excited to learn, is the proprietor of an apothecary.
A couple weeks later, I got the courage up once again to go in and visit her shop. Marinda remembered my face immediately and smiled that I came to her little haven! She was so warm and welcoming and the shop… is an EXPERIENCE!
If you ever visit Salt Lake City, put Natural Law Apothecary on your MUST SEE list! There is nothing else on earth like this gem of a shop, well, more of a Hobbit’s dwelling with piles of reading books strewn about high and low in cozy nooks, hand crafted from custom woodwork (by her husband). There are tapestries, pillows and comfy chairs and secluded “lofts” throughout the establishment creating this cathedral of health and wellness!
There’s even a little stage for poetry reading and live music nestled within this artful wonder.
Sit and have a mug of warm tea, choosing from multiple varieties or get yourself some freshly brewed kombucha or jun tea and pick up a SCOBY to brew your own before you go home. You can enjoy a date night sound bath experience in their yoga studio or take a course in natural health, learn to create your own incense or tea, or experience kombo and other plant medicines and rituals!
They also have an assortment of bodyworkers at hand to care for your aches and pains, and you can allow your troubles melt away with a soak in their float tank for the full well being experience. This is truly one of my favorite places on earth!
I am delighted to share the wisdom of Marinda Bowen on this week’s Well Being Wednesday episode! I am sure in this video you will get a peak into what makes this place and these people so special to me: CARING!
