I read this today, and I find it to have been true for me. My weight and what I assumed was metabolic resistance was primarily toxin based. It wasn't caloric dieting so much as having a diet that helped me eliminate toxins without adding more. It wasn't keto so much as eating the foods my body could process easier to eliminate toxins. Ultimately, getting rid of toxic crap and using saunas and light exercise was what ended up netting my loss of 30 pounds.
I am grateful, though, to my functional medicine doctor. Dialing in the combination of detox protocols for my body was something I couldn't have figured out without her assistance. I was taking so many of the nutritional supplements my doctor suggested but in all the wrong quantities. Some I was taking way, way too much and others, I wasn't even scratching the surface with.
I would have never imagined I needed to take 8 capsules two to three times per day of this super expensive phospholipid complex that recommended on the bottle one per day but of which I had been taking only 2, thinking I was getting twice as much as I needed. I was taking 1 or 2 when my body required 24 of that brand! It was a good brand, too, but not the discount I thought once I realized how much I required per day to restore my health from toxic mold exposure. And she found me a far better supplement at a tiny fraction of the price so I wasn't overpaying.
These are the kind of rookie mistakes amateurs make, trying things without real understanding of all of what these complexes do and how they are dosed in a clinical setting. I researched the shit out of this stuff. She was surprised I was taking most of the right supplements. Most people don't know as much as I knew. But I still was no expert in the field.
I realize a lot of people aren't losing weight because of metabolic resistance or eating wrong for their body's needs or improper exercise. I had tried every variation of those main reasons people don't lose weight for 6 years of determination, education and will power and got effectively fatter.
It wasn't until I got tested for a gazillion things I realized I had h-pylori. an entamoeba histolytica parasite infestation and a c-diff infection. I had 9- yes 9 different genetic mutations involving methylation (the body's ability to detox). Some foods and supplements for me are indigestible based on these genetic mutations. I can ingest them, but I won't get nutrition from them. Some will add to my toxic burden. This makes a vegetarian diet nearly impossible for me to exist on.
